Our History

The party begins: stripping, boozing & gambling

Much like the majority of the country following the stock market crash, Chicago is bankrupt and depressed. Crime is at its peak and political unrest engulfs the city...but in Bucktown, a dream is born.

On Cortland and Winchester, a former grocery store/bar is expanded by Lottie Zagorski to become a full service tavern called Zakorski's. Although Zagorski's is not a speakeasy as most Bucktown residents will claim, Lottie did open her private basement that would become the epicenter of corruption in Chicago's Shakespeare District.

New City govemment, led by Mayor Ed Kelly, could not immediately remedy the years of political workings by the coalition, "business" would have to go on as usual. Lottie's basement provides the solution to just that- a place where the underworld would safely seek refuge and conduct business.

Mobsters and public officials alike are granted anonymity at Zagorski's Rathskellar. A simple knock on Lottie's private basement door opens a world of escape and debauchery, lively parties, strip tease dancers, horse betting, and all night poker games to those deemed worthy.
